The international education community and loved ones across Saskatchewan are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Carol Pratt, Vice Principal at Raha International School in Abu Dhabi, who tragically lost her life in a motor vehicle accident near Regina, Saskatchewan.
Carol was among three members of the Pratt family who died in the devastating crash alongside her parents, Jim and Judy Pratt. The tragedy has left family, friends, colleagues, former students, and communities around the world grieving the loss of three remarkable individuals whose lives were defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to others.
In a heartfelt message shared by the family, Carol was remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, educator, and friend whose compassion and selflessness touched everyone she met. Her family described Carol and her parents as extraordinary people who lived with grace, integrity, and a deep commitment to serving others. They pledged to honor their legacy through future generations and by carrying forward the values they instilled in those around them.
Carol dedicated her professional life to education, inspiring students and supporting fellow educators across several countries. At the time of her passing, she served as Vice Principal at Raha International School in Abu Dhabi. Throughout her distinguished career, she also held leadership positions as MYP Coordinator at Oeiras International School in Portugal, Head of Secondary at Cairo English School, Deputy Head of Secondary at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi, IB Diploma Coordinator at St. Francis College São Paulo, and Head of Science at Regents International School Pattaya. Her commitment to academic excellence and student success earned her the admiration and respect of colleagues and students around the world.
The accident also seriously injured Carol’s young nephew, Alfie, who remains under medical care at Regina General Hospital. According to the family, he is in stable condition and continues to show remarkable strength as he recovers from multiple injuries.
